Tauranga Boys College win GOLD at NZ Volleyball Nationals!!
Outstanding performances from our Bay of Plenty volleyball teams competing at the 2019 NZ Senior Secondary School Volleyball Championships last week in Palmerston North!
With over 150 Secondary School Volleyball teams competing for their shot at being National Volleyball Champions at a week-long tournament – Bay of Plenty’s Tauranga Boys College dominated the competition, coming home as 2019 National Volleyball Champions after a 3-1 Grand Final against defending champs Western Heights High School came home with 2nd place silver!!
Every year we see the level of secondary school volleyball rise, with teams, athletes, and coaches showing a profound knowledge of the game and applying high quality skills – this year was no exception!
Huge congratulations to Otumoetai College Girls who set the standard from day 1 of NZSSS Volleyball Champs as they made their way to the Girls Grand Final against Westlake Girls High School. After a tough battle in a 1-3 Final, the Otumoetai Girls placed 2nd and received their silver medals – Massive achievement to be proud of!
Trident High School continues to prove to us all that they are one of the top volleyball schools in the country with both the Girls and Boys teams placing 3rd in Division 1 and receiving bronze medals!
Bay of Plenty had 7 Girls and Boys teams placing within the TOP 32 teams in New Zealand this year.
